As a teaser: we left SLC a little later than we had hoped that Friday afternoon. Because of our late start, we got caught in rush hour traffic in Utah County and then a truly impressive rain storm in Spanish Fork Canyon. There were washouts and so much rain on the road; we were driving 35 in a 65 m.p.h. zone simply because we couldn't see the road. We had put our duffel bags in the back of the truck and were sure that our clothes were going to get completely soaked. Amazingly, when we rolled into Moab around 8:15, stuff was mostly dry. We took that for a good omen.
At least it didn't snow this time
